2018/06/01 English Program at Taipei Office

During 25th July 2017 to 26th Jan 2018, the HR Department in Taipei office held an English program to enhance the English knowledge of employees in Beijer Electronics and Korenix Technology in Taiwan. The participation was voluntary for this and about 70 employees joined the program.

The program was mainly focused on self-learning and supported by seminars and workshops. The training agency set up an English Club on Facebook, and posted English learning videos 3 times a week. Participants had to reply a certain content under each post to show that they have completed the learning.

Other than the FB post, the training agency also invited professional English teachers to do lectures about how to improve specific English abilities such as reading and speaking skills. In total we held 3 seminars and 2 workshops during the 6 month training period.

The participants were divided into 9 groups, all participants was obliged to take pre-test and after-test of TOEIC exam (Test of English for International Communication). The groups and individual who had the highest improvements from the pre- to the after-test scores got an award between TWD 8,000 to TWD 20,000.

After six months hardworking, the scores of the participants were improved by 52.5 ponts in average (The average improvement scores for other companies, which also participated the same program was around 40 to 50 scores), and 77% of the participants improved their scores. We selected the top 2 groups and 1 individual who improved the most for the 1st prize/2nd prize /MVP prize.

Although the 6 month program has now ended, we still encourage employees to continue their learning in English. HR will announce the new program about English learning in Taipei office shortly. With consistent learning, we believe that employees within the whole Beijer Electronics group can communicate better and more smoothly in the near future thanks to the training program.
